Simulation is used more and more in process industry for a variety of purposes. For example dynamic simulation is well suitable for integrated automation and process design, automation testing, operator training and support purposes. However there are still some problems in the large scale use of simulation. Modeling with current tools is sometimes laborous and time consuming. The parameters needed for the proper simulation of the process components are many times hard to get. Often some details have to be discussed with the component provider in telephone. Also the support for reuse of the ready made models has been poor. So there is a clear need to improve the availability of component configuration data for simulator users and also to develope efficient mechanisms for model library development and deployment.
Gallery is a software architechture and a reference implementation for storing process component and model library data into an internet based database from where it can be easily used by simulation users and other process designers.
