Scheduling
Short description of the project
The company needed to increase troughput of its fine chemicals plant. Better scheduling of production was seen as a key for achieving higher output. The mathematical optimisation was used to find the optimal schedule that minimises the costs releted to service level (delay costs), productivity (set-up costs), stock (storage costs), load (resource costs) and transportation. The scheduling system calculates optimal lot sizes, production sequences and stock levels. Methodas are based on mixed integer linear programming (MILP) and genetic algorithms (GA).
Soft Benefits
The output of the plant has been increased due to more efficient production schedule. The time for making production shedules has been decreased.
Public quantitative benefits
The time spent on production planning has been reduced up to 50%.
