Short description of the project
Low steam/carbon ratio in hydrogen plant decreases energy consumption but also may lead to carbon deposit entailing a risk of catalyst damage. A week knowledge of the feed gas composition as well as measurement errors led to week knowledge of steam/carbon ratio in the refinery of ERE and made it difficult to find the optimal operating ratio. The problem was solved with data reconciliation software and a static model of the system was created. The model identifies each hour certain key values that help the refinery to improve its operation.
