| Topic |
The design and management of transportation systems and traffic (urban as well as regional or even European wide) include a number of very challenging problems. Optimal design and management of such systems have a tremendous influence on economic performance, service provision and general quality of life. It is therefore important to develop modelling and simulation techniques especially for this area. |
| Goals |
To survey state of the art and identify challenges for future developments of simulation techniques for traffic and transportation. Especially:
- To analyse which design and management problems of traffic can be addressed by simulation technology
- To survey state of the available technologies and their current application
- To promote use of simulation and make potential users aware of its benefits
- To identify needs and options for future research and improved applications
- To stimulate RTD projects addressing the identified needs
